SASIT’s approach to cloud consulting, design and implementation helps turn ideas into action.

Whether the goal is to:

  • Understand the benefits cloud can bring
  • Develop a strategy
  • Analyse capability and delivery gaps
  • Build an implementation roadmap
  • Prioritise the workloads you put on the cloud
  • Architect the right integration of cloud service
  • Or all of the above!

… our cloud services help organisations adopt this disruptive technology and realise the opportunities it promises.

To do so, we have developed:

The SASIT Cloud ‘RSRS’ Model: Readiness, Strategy, Roadmap, Selection

Cloud Readiness

Many organisations have moved some of their IT infrastructure to a cloud platform. Many more are researching such a move. Migrating to the cloud can seem daunting. At SASIT we know a successful move to the cloud relies on careful planning and implementation.

SASIT is skilled and experienced at moving customers to the cloud. To do so, we first recommend preparing a Cloud Readiness Report, working closely with internal IT staff. This report helps to identify such issues as:

  • The appetite for the cloud at all relevant levels of the organisation
  • The benefits for the IT department
  • The benefits for lines-of-business and their customers
  • What could be moved to a public cloud and what needs to stay in a private cloud – how to get the balance right
  • Whether a private cloud should be on-premise or in a hosted environment. If it is on-premise, whether it should be managed in-house or by an MSP
  • The necessary governance and security policies
  • The short and long term ROI needed
  • The framework, practices, skills and resources needed to build an integrated hybrid cloud
  • What resources the IT department has and what other parties can provide
  • How ensure the right partners and vendors are in place to help

Cloud Strategy

The second step is to develop a cloud strategy. This strategy drives the desired level of integration of public and private cloud services.

SASIT can help:

  • Deploy a proven framework to connect the cloud strategy with desired business outcomes
  • Provide clarity around how to implement the strategy and drive the resulting business transformation
  • Check the health of the current infrastructure, middleware and application stack. This review helps determine which cloud alternatives are the best fit for the new environment
  • Ensure alignment of the cloud strategy with other current IT plans and projects
  • Close the gaps between current levels of resourcing and skills and the demands of the move to the cloud
  • Develop the business case for senior management which shows the value of the new cloud environment

Cloud Roadmap

In Step 3, SASIT ensures that implementating the cloud strategy is seamless and stress-free. We do so by creating a ‘Roadmap to the Cloud’ with the customer. Our recommended roadmap model includes milestones plus an owner of each action and deliverable.

We can help:

  • Build a governance model to achieve operational excellence
  • Design an efficient and scalable hybrid cloud architecture
  • Define the placement of application workloads in the cloud
  • Develop a plan that sets out the steps, the people and the technologies needed to move to the cloud
  • Anticipate and manage enterprise change impact across people, processes and platforms
  • Design and manage effective cloud development and migration plans
  • Ensure the organisation achieves its desired outcomes and enjoys on-going benefits

Cloud Selection

The Cloud Strategy also helps select the cloud services providers that the organisation needs. In Step 4, SASIT helps find the set of cloud providers that have  the right culture fit, cost and risk profile for the organisation. We do so by asking questions using the following criteria and preparing a report on the findings:

  • The provider's range of offerings and the balance of public, private and hybrid services
  • The functions that are their main strengths
  • The balance they provide between control or convenience
Security - processes, practices and trust levels
  • Their Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for reliability, availability and performance. The uptime guarantees do they give and their record on meeting these
  • Scalability: how quickly and cost-effectively the provider can increase storage space, processing power, etc
  • Levels and availability of technical support, from help desk to tier 3
  • Their level of business continuity planning. Their insurance cover for such items as lost data, customer liability etc.
  • The ease of setup and on-going system management
  • How easy are they to do business with!
